African Fashion Week London

Over the course of two days [Friday and Saturday] London opened her doors to the first ever African Fashion event to be held on British shores. Over 50 different designers showcased their work, with great emphasis taken to try and spread the word of African culture and versatility. Below are some of the pictures taken at the event.

INFLUENCERS Part 2: Steve Stoute

The INFLUENCERS short documentary continues with the In-depth Series, attempting to understand the essence of influence & what makes a person influential without taking a statistical or metric approach.

This episode features Steve Stoute, Founder and CEO of Translation, a brand management firm that arranges strategic partnerships between Pop Culture icons (Jay-Z, Gwen Stefani, Lebron James, Justin Timberlake, etc.) and Fortune 500 companies.

Steve discusses the concept of “cool”.  In this interview, he outlines how new cultural codes are redefining traditional corporation communication. Stoute looks the importance of creating successful collaborations between Artists and Brands, and what it takes for marketers to create synergy between these two parties.

Made in Milan

Last week was the Milan Men’s Fall-Winter 2011 Fashion Week. Much of the media’s eye was fixated on the runway, which witnessed a plethora of works from the top designers of the fashion world, including; Ermenegildo Zegna, Versace, D&G, Armani, Canali, Roberto Cavali, Bottega Veneta, Gucci to name but a few.

However, this collection of shots showcases what occurred off the runway, portraying Italian pedestrians taking style into the streets. Compliments to Tommy Ton of GQ, we see how the streets of Milan radiated Swag.

Up Close and Private

CLOSE UP AND PRIVATE is an on-going project by artist Sergei Sviatchenko which looks to capture the spirit of modern style, as seen through the subtle shades of the individual. Through these details a complex discourse between clothing, fashion and image takes form, offering new perspectives on contemporary fashion and identity. This project embodies the spirit of modern style with a hint of preppy flavour.
